Frais Culture

A Frais Thought: Astigmatism -is an optical defect in which vision is blurred due to the inability of the optics of the eye to focus a point object into a sharp focused image on the retina. This may be due to an irregular or toric curvature of the cornea or lens.

I have not been dealing with this issue for about a year and a half.

Glasses to me have evolved beyond the conventional use. They have opened the door and bridged the gap between people that see clearly and people that have issues like the one stated above. It has created a new type of fashion that brings us all together, without having to have something “wrong”.

Which is why i support the cause, and feed my endless obsession with clear frame lenses to make a statement that glasses are the perfect touch to a face.

So stop asking if there real or fake…because they are REAL…ly…stylish.

Out and About: Art Walk!!

Im a firm believer in speaking things into existence. A person saying that they will never be able to do somthing, only inhibits them. The best of the best in our society CAN do things be cause they say and think so.

Frais culture takes this into account and brought the people of this past artwalk into the mind frame of saying that they are FRAIS!

Frais Culture also took a spin on the wild side, and made an interesting modification to the Frais Guy lifestyle instillation.

Will a baddass hog in as the center peice, on lookers couldnt help to be submersed in the act of saying they were Frais, and being an an enviroment that is Frais.

Frais Frais Frais Frais Frais Frais Frais!… I cant help myself now!

Say it with me!

I AM FRAIS!!

Out and about:  A few months ago I found myself representing Frais Culture, at a really upscale General networking event. While only being in this blooging world for only so long, I wasn’t too keen on how to properly mingle at this “soiree”.

Nonetheless i threw myself into the mix and started talking to people. I was rather disappointed to find out that theses broad networking events can easily turn into a contest of who has the better business card. I got sucked into countless mundane conversations about how they are better than most people, and how their buusness are so much more sucessful than the next guy.

A month ago, when I found out that Richochet Lounge would be hosting the Fashion Bloggers do it better event, Flashbacks from my previous endeavor crept in my mind.

Boy was I wrong!!!

Cocktails, Photos, laughs, cupcakes, high heels, and any other fun filled adjective were present!

I made some great contacts, and was very surprised to see how creative and passionate people were about this fashion world.

Being caught up in so many talks, I wasn’t too trigger happy, but I took a few picks of some very well dressed folks!

A Frais Thought: Most Americans have heard the US referred to as the “Great American melting pot”. With the thousands of ingredients in our “one nation”, it can be easy to lose your sense of culture in he mix.

In some cases, a persons sense of individuality can even be at risk within their own culture. Especially when the western world has far more flashing lights then the 3rd world country most Parents or Grandparents grew up in.

In human geography there is a term called Distance Decay, it explains that the farther you are from your family’s country of origin, the harder the culture is to maintain. Think about how many Little Havanas there are in Wisconsin.

My point is this, keeping your culture intact goes hand in hand in expressing yourself. Embracing where you “came” from, with what you “come” from can breath new life in everything you do.

A perfect example in this case is the the wonderful detail of wooden and beaded bracelets.

I’ve fallen in love with this accessory .It adds that earthy, tribal feel to a fit. After some research I’ve found that African tribes used to use bracelets like these to distinguish royalty from the common man.

Granted, anyone can pick up a pack of these beads and make one themselves, (like I did) but the history behind the tradition speaks volumes!

Especially when people consistantly ask me “Where did you get that”?

My response, “I got it from my culture”.

Frais Fit: Le Frais Foulard!

Details Details Details!

I have to be in class by 8:30am almost everyday. Sometimes, staring at the closet for 20min, deciding on which outfit to walk out of my apartment with, can be really dangerous.Especially when you go to a shcool that only allows a certain amount of tardys and absences. This bad habit, can lead to consequences far greater than looking good in the mirror.

But! I have gotten better at this.

I mean, going from staring at the closet, to staring at the mirror for 20min is an improvement right?

Oh c’mon! You all know how it feels. You,the mirror, and the ominous voice in your head asking…”Whats missing?”

I’ve recently found the solution.

I present to you the Frais Foulard, a multifaceted detail that can be the perfect garnish for your Frais fit.

Now that, I’m saving 20min from my morning I can now use it to eat a well balanced breakfast..or sleep in.

Frais Fit: Bike Lane only
With snow storms slowly turning into rain storms in the north, and rain storms turning into humid hell in the south, clothing choices are beginning to shift this time of year.
Layering, in my opinion is the best way to paint yourself with details. You can really accent colors, textures and more by doing so.
But is it really worth wearing your favorite cardigan, dress shirt and tie combination in them midst of a heat wave. I think not! Especially in Miami.
This Frais Fit goes head to head with mother nature, and allows the person to breath, in the breeze with the trees in times of high degrees, wearing a Frais tee.

A Frais Thought

Growing up I always wondered why people were so concerned with fashion. I was never given the best clothing. Mainly because my mothers priority for myself and my siblings was food in  our mouths, and a good education.

I associated the fashion industry with pretentious elitists, that made their mirrors a best friend. Probably because their real friends couldn’t keep up with the demand of ego boosting they needed.

I didn’t see the Art in Fashion. After watching overzealous shows on TV with women in large feather hats, and ridiculous outfits in leopard print, I thought it was a contest to see who can make a skinny white girl look the most atrocious.

Fashion in my middle class neighborhood, was no different. Guys would wear tall white tee shirts and expensive sneakers, and be crowned top of the food chain. Women would wear colorful hair attachments, and Gold chains with their names on it, and be the queens of hive.

The fashion world, always seemed like this exclusive lifestyle that i couldnt be apart of.

Then I put on my first fitted dress shirt.

Something happened to me. I realized the clothes don’t make the man it is the man that makes the clothes. The garments have to work for you. Just because everyone is wearing it doesn’t mean it isn’t special. You can create and customize, your clothing based of how you feel!

This overwhelming feeling has truly made me appreciate people that do spend that extra time in the mirror. Why not feel confident about how you express yourself on the outside. Especially in a day and age where people don’t take time to know the inside, why not give them a glimpse of who you are on the outside!
